salad. salad? SALAD?! of the crayfish variety

the word salad does not tend to go hand in paw with beast feaster, but i needed a light snack to work off the hangover from the end of term party at uni last night. my face is still feeling wrong, absinthe to blame. or maybe the rinsing of an entire bottle of old nick's. i digress. even though i was hungover and am known to have a general dislike for seafood, i had stumbled across some crayfish tails in a supermarket. i thought i wouldn't be able to get anymore seafood that matched my seafood rules, but crayfish are freshwater crustacean and are therefore a valid strike! queasy stomach and irrational fears aside, i whipped them out into a bowl and stared at them for a few minutes, stomach gurgling.to make the salad, i grabbed a load of trendy leaves - the peppery leaf vegetable that is known widely as rocket - and created a dressing of extra virgin olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice, parsley and oregano. i also squeezed some lemon juice onto the crayfish tails to let them soak in some flavour. i also dosed up a piece of lightly toasted bread with olive oil and whacked it in the oven to let it crisp up crouton style.

once the bread was done really crispy i ripped it up and threw it in the salad with the crayfish, mixed it all up and stuck it on a plate.
the crayfish wasn't too fishy, like a weak prawn, definitely a taste i can live with. the dressing was a great compliment to it all, even if i was a bit overzealous with lemon. overall, a great little snack and a good way to see out the last of the seafood category strikes.

in other news, i have more tshirts to go into the shop, but just have to finalise the designs and stuff, so keep your eye on threadibles! also, to the people who bought stuff from the shop it would be sweet if you could send in pictures of you gallivanting about in beast feaster apparel. smooth.
