another QUAILity pun (stuffed quail)
tick tock.
that's all i can hear at the moment as the months have turned to weeks and soon the weeks will turn to days! animals are shaking in fear across the globe as i seek out those elusive final ten to be devoured. and it is true that i have no idea what all of them will be too. luckily, the boys at the wild meat company have sorted me out a few treats in the form of various game i have yet been able to acquire. the first one to be tasted is the tiny, tiny quail. i got six of the little birds to feed my hungry housemates. my new friend robert at wild meat did me a favour by pre-boning (haha) them and filling them with a mustard and maple stuffing. tasty. i rubbed the little buggers with butter and showered them with basil before whacking them in the oven for a while. as they browned up a treat, lois made some stir fry concoction of cabbage, bacon and egg fried rice to act as a nest to the quail before their journey from plate to face began.

these small fist-sized birds surprised me by packing a strong flavour and smell. to be totally useless at describing i will say they tasted gamey. yes, boo all you want but it's true. the flavour, as i have said already, was very strong, but was awesomely offset by the maple and mustard stuffing alongside the bacon, cabbage and sticky rice.
