exams (boo), festival (yay) and deer (chomp!)
well, first it's time to get my apologies out of the way. for the past month or so, i have been studying hard for my second year university exams, which rendered me completely meatless, let alone timeless, and consequently did not eat anything fun. infact, all i ingested over this period of non-meatiness was dirty pizzas and vast quantities of relentless, probably to my bodies detriment! but now the exams are over, and it has been a time of many parties and much relaxing and annoying work seeking. it is also the beginning of festival season for myself, starting with the glorious off the tracks festival, where i work. think farmhouse, 45 ales, grass roots music, smokey atmosphere, throw in a bit of tent gabba and it's all set. they also do food.
after eating many of the wonderful pork baps (with stuffing and apple sauce of course) found at off the tracks, i decided to get involved in their venison baguette and attain a hit. i have to say, the baguette tasted as if it had been out all night, but it is not the bread i'm interested in. it was accompanied by nice, thick cuts of deer, smothered in some crazy gravy, and then attacked by some rather fluorescent looking mustard by myself. but it tasted gorgeous, although a little bit like minted lamb (i am basing my description on a text message i sent my girlfriend whilst biting into the juicy deer). infact, the message reads:
"Good gracious!, the venison was awesme,
the suce made it taste like sminted lamb but
it was a darkr tasying meat, although delicious..."
the suce made it taste like sminted lamb but
it was a darkr tasying meat, although delicious..."
needless to say i had had my fair share of the 45 ales and whatever else it is i do at festivals. the pictures i have do not do it justice (but do check out the artistic angle of the second picture, very creative *cough*), it just looks like a mess! however, i have included them for completion of strike and we are upto 10 out of 9 weeks, that's a beast ratio of 1.11!

so, conclusions. deer is good, eat it now. and off the tracks is awesome, i'll be there at the autumn edition in september so you had better go too. ASWAD are playing for goodness sakes!
